Summer travel is becoming more and more barbaric with airlines squeezing people into every square centimeter of cabin space and ill-tempered security theatre airport personnel doing their utmost to imitate prison guards. Add to this the ridiculous number of bags that go missing and you will come to the same conclusion I did many years ago: summer travel (and any kind of travel) must be attempted only with a carry-on bag.
But how do you maintain your beauty regime when you go on holiday this summer? There are two ways:
(1) Simply buy whatever you need at your destination. This can be expensive if you like premium cosmetics and skin care brands. You also run the risk that your favorite products will not be available there.
(2) Follow my example and bring the following 100 ml and under beauty items (see below), from left to right:
Anthelios 50 Tinted Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid: This does double duty as a foundation and daytime sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF 50 protection. The finish is absolutely gorgeous. I wear this even at night so I don’t have to bring another bottle of foundation.
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50: This light sunscreen is water-resistant and can be used on face and body. It does give you a slight whitish cast but I love it because it doesn’t make me break out and it gives me adequate protection against UVA and UVB rays especially when I go swimming.
Shiseido UV Protective Stick Foundation: I use this as a concealer and a stick foundation. It covers imperfections well and looks very natural. It is also water-resistant.
Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Lotion: This lightweight, silky lotion contains antioxidants and peptides. It is great for normal to oily skin.
Clarins Hydraquench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm: The only lip balm that truly keeps my lips moisturized for hours. I have been using this lip balm for years and I hope Clarins does not discontinue it.
Shiseido Benefiance Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam: I bought a small plastic container from MUJI and filled it with this Shiseido cleanser. A tiny amount of cleanser goes a long way for taking off all your makeup and sunscreen.
