I am looking forward to the following new foundation and base makeup launches in 2016. As always, the key is to try it in the store and see whether the color matches your skin tone and whether the texture fits your skin type. One of the products listed below is a primer. I rarely wear primer but this one looks promising because it has SPF 50 sunscreen, so it may be good for day time wear. However, you have to try it with foundation.
Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous foundation: very sheer, natural-looking foundation designed to mimic how skin looks in a candlelit room. Although Mercier claims it provides medium coverage, I think the coverage is quite sheer when I tried it in Sephora.
Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Foundation: oil-free, SPF 20 sunscreen, long wearing liquid foundation. I am looking forward to this launch because it seems Shiseido has abandoned its strange foundation color system (B for beige, I for Ivory, O for Ochre) based on the bottles I’ve seen for sale on Ebay.
Armani Maestro Glow Nourishing Fusion Makeup (bi-phase elixir) SPF 30: It resembles the current Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup bottle but it’s quite different. It has SPF 30 instead of SPF 15 and it’s bi-phasic. You have the shake the bottle vigorously to mix the liquids inside. It comes in the same drop bottle format, which isn’t the most convenient.
Armani Maestro UV skin defense primer SPF 50: This is a base makeup/primer designed to be worn under the Maestro Glow. It provides excellent UVA and UVB protection, and comes in the same drop bottle format.
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint: Tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 sunscreen. According to the Nars press release, “[t]his oil-free formula delivers NARS’ signature natural-looking finish and shine control with the skincare benefits of an all-in-one treatment. NARS’ innovative Velvet Illusion Complex Technology creates a soft-focus effect with a soft-touch feel. Transparent Blurring Powders instantly enhance the look of skin by helping to blur imperfections and even tone — naturally dimensional skin that doesn’t look flat, masked, or chalky.” Read the review on ReallyRee.
